Project Meetings
Although our 1st (Kingston-upon-Hull, UK) and 2nd (Brussels, Belgium) meetings were face to face, our 3rd, 4th and 5th meetings were online due to COVID-19.
Happily we managed to have our 6th Project meeting all together in Italy in 2022 and and in a final meeting in Finland in October 2022! Completing IO2: Developing Globally Competence Teacher Educators
We have now run all of our Teacher Educator workshops (see output 2) with a wide variety of teacher educators from across the world regarding global competence education in different teacher education contexts, including the non-formal sector. The three workshops (January, March and May 2021) were highly successful and have resulted in lots of collaboration and activity in between the workshops. The final products, creations and learning (including direction on the process for those who would like to try this approach) were presented first in April at the Teaching and Learning for an Inclusive, Interconnected World Conference in Italy, then at the final LTTE workshop in Belgium in May 2022.

Teacher Educator Global Competence Conference in Italy, 20-22 April 2022
We held a three-day event in April 2022 dedicated to exploring research and practice around teaching and learning for an inclusive, interconnected world. We convened as a part of a "multiplier event", scholars, practicing teacher educators, trainee teachers, teachers and non-formal affiliated educators from around the world together with our partners at the Association for Teacher Education in Europe: ATEE, and the Institute for Developing Across Differences (IDD).
Keynote speakers included Dr. Veronica Boix-Mansilla (Project Zero, Harvard Graduate School of Education, US) and Professor Annette Gisevius (Karlshochschule International University and InterCultur, Germany). And, we showcased the results from Output 2: Developing Globally Competence Teacher Educators and Output 1: The Scoping Study Finalizing design of the Flexible Training Programme Project + Meet up in May 2022We have now completed the build of a flexible continuing professional development training programme that supports trainee teachers as they learn to embed Global Competence education into their daily practice.
Some 50+ teacher educators, trainee teachers and non-formal affiliated educators from the GCTE project partner institutions met up from 30 May - 2 June at University College Leuven-Limburg. Working in transnational teams, participants took part in the recently COIL-tested flexible training programme for trainee teachers. They explored the pedagogical content and learned how to use enabling tools, such as 360 videos, to provide an authentic learning experience for the trainee teacher beneficiaries. This builds on the virtual (COIL)-based programming that was conducted in late 2021 to pilot the training to gauge and improve effectiveness and Teacher Educator satisfaction with the training.
